PAIR OF WINS MOVES ANDERSON TOWARD NO. 2 SEED

Team of the Week: Anderson The Trojans (24-9, 11-4 District 25-6A) took a big step towards clinching the district’s No. 2 seed with wins over Lake Travis, 56-49, and Del Valle, 69-62. Anderson will be the second seed if it closes out the season with a win over Hays or Bowie loses to Del Valle. Honorable mention: Hays The Rebels (20-10, 9-6) clinched a playoff spot with a 65-53 win over Del Valle, completing a turnaround from a last-place finish in the district to qualifying for the postseason. Luke Watson (15 points), Carlos Rocha (13), Caden Doyle (12) and Durand Hill (12) all reached double figures for Hays. Player of the Week: Max Smith, Anderson Smith, a senior guard, had a phenomenal week, going off for 29 points against Lake Travis and 30 against Del Valle as the Trojans went 2-0. Honorable mention: Eain Mowat, Westlake Mowat, a junior, scored 16 points in the Chaps’ 69-65 win over Bowie Feb. 11, then tallied 14 Friday in Westlake’s 60-43 win over Akins as the Chaps (31-1, 15-0) pushed their winning streak to 21 games. The rest of the district Bowie (24-8, 10-5) defeated Lake Travis, 89-69, as both Coleton Benson and Cade Holzman scored 18 points and Ethan Walker tallied 17. Shea O’Reilly added six points for the Bulldogs. ... Austin High (15-13, 7-8) guaranteed itself a winning record thanks to its 58-46 win over Lehman. Petia Degale finished with 15 points and seven rebounds to lead the Maroons, while DaRyan Williams scored 14 points and Jahvante O’Conner added 10. ... Akins (6-22, 3-12) recorded a 56-50 win over Lehman as Beto Morales tallied 15 points, six assists and three steals and Nate Davis scored 13 points. Games of the Week: Anderson at Hays, Bowie at Del Valle Some playoff seeding is still up in the air on the final night of the regular season. Anderson can clinch the two seed with a win or Bowie loss, while the Bulldogs would take the second seed with a win and an Anderson loss due to a better point differential. If Hays wins and Bowie loses, the Bulldogs would be the No. 3 seed as they won both head-to-head matchups. So we know that Westlake is the No. 1 seed and Hays is the fourth seed.
